Suzuki Jeep Sj410, 4age Transplant

Me and a mate of mine are in to off roading and go to lots of off road days in are sj410, which has got 2.0l vauxhall carlton engine and gear box fitted up to the Suzuki transfer box and axels so is still 4wd, its much better than the standard 1000cc engine with not far off 3 times the power! along with the 6+ inch lift the jeep has and crazy tyres its able to go just about any where, and we do :D

You would think we would have trobble with the transfer box or diffs blowing to bits with all that power, as they were made to be used with a 1000cc engine, buts thats not the case. we are on are third 2.0l carlton engine and second carlton gear box! which is now on the way out again :ffs: so will soon be 3 gearboxs. the only Suzuki part to break so far in over a year of off roading is the rear diff, which was due to muddy water getting in side it with out us knowing for the hole time we had it and the prevous owner who also used it off road.

so we have decided enough is enough with carlton running gear, and are going to use toyota engine and gearbox as this should cope better, we hope

we have chose to use the 1.6 16v 4age engine which we already have out of a b reg mr2, and a ae86 gearbox which we got off eBay a while back, we have got the wiring lome and ecu out of the mr2 as well. we chose to use the 4age engine because its been so good in my ae82 and has taken so much stick with out missing a beat, touces some wood.

we should be ok with getting the engine and gear box in to the jeep, but my worry is the wiring side of it is where we will struggle. does anyone have any advise with this project? I did think maybe carbs is a idea as its less wires and no ecu i guess, but does involve lots more money and would be a last resort if we cant get it working. we bolted are 4age engine on to a engine stand last night in are lock up, which can be turned 360 so we can do some work on it befor we start, what would be good to do while its out like this? i was thinking head gasket with a metel one from fensport as i did on my ae82, and maybe new water pump and oil pump, not sure what they cost though yet or where is best to get them from. Ay iders on other stuff we should do to engine as we have it out in a stand which we can turn around?

It will be so good to get this done as the 4age sounds so good and we hope will last longer, plus there is lots of bit we can get to add more bhp if we think we need it.

if any of the ae86 boys are reading this, we have a ae86 gearbox, we need a clutch, where is good to get one? think we might stick with a standard one for now because of the cost.

think that will do for now, sorry for bad english and spelling never was any good at it in school

have put some photos on just to show what im talking about

i'm only in Southend and have a full Workshop manual that i think covers the wiring too, just drop me a line if you cant trace the wires.
