i dont like the gen 7 , with or without them alloys - end of. Also the gen 7 alloys were prone to flaking so i dont like them either .

but each to their own suppose.

if you bought the wheels for the tyres why pay £70 for a fitting kit ??????????

Only prone to flaking if your a crap driver and kerb them! The only thing worse than Venom's are three spoke alloys!

is that why 100's were recalled due to flaking alloys mmmmmmmmm

100's of idiots letting there wives drive their cars!! Why did they not recall 1000's then, only 100's, surely that means the problem was resolved!!! I hope I got the lucky one set!

Booster - dont take comments I make too seriously otherwise we could fall out! ;)

I like my celica to look ok but i have it for the drive not for the looks.

In that case 15s or 16s might have been a better option. Bigger than that and the suspension starts to get a bit upset.

The gen 7 alloys (and loads of other toyota wheels) have flaked and corroded badly. It's a sign of cheap manufacturing. Can you believe that they only paint the outside face of the wheel! Behind the front of the spokes is all unfinished aluminium, it's no wonder they corrode.

Toyota did replace many FOC under warranty, but only when owners kicked up a fuss. But they certainly were never recalled them. Recalls are generally only done for safety issues, and a recall is admitting that a fault/defect does exist. I wonder how many owners were fobbed off with dealers saying that wheel corrosion is to be expected/not covered under warranty/you must have kerbed them/not kept them clean/used the wrong cleaning products etc...

 yeah sorry bud but the venoms suck

In the late nineties i think more novas and 1.4 cossie escort lookalikeys had venoms than any other alloy design.........

But if you like em thats all that matters

well i odnt particularily like them, i am not fussed either way, but for a cheap set of 17's i was told the handling would become a bit better.

I'll just curl up and die in this hole i am digging.

oh well i will post a pic at the end of the week anyway, maybe we can have a thread dedicated to taking the mickey out of my celica !! LOL

Take your wheel back to toyota and get them to sort them out. Kick up a fuss and if that does not work a letter expressing your concerns about the levels of service you have received to the Managing Director usually works a treat!

You could always show the dealer what wheels you are thinking of putting on and Im sure he will gladly replace them!!!

omg, please let this topic, and myself, die in a dark corner.....

However, maybe it will be a little bit ok as i am will be going "retro" and the age of the wheels will match the age of my car.....

i'll get my coat....

I was going to buy a Lambo but got a Celica instead, but in 6 mo.....

Very Nice mate and it's good to see it was just a momentary loss of your sense's

  • 2 weeks later...

Next and final bit.....

The blooming alloys are different!! there is a different offset on one of the wheels so although they all go on etc one of the wheels sticks out further!!!

I give up, £240 later and i am just going to stick some new tyres on the ones i've got and be thankful for it!!

So you will guess the lame Venoms are going in the bin!

**update**

I got some spacers with the alloys, as i mentioned earlier. Well it turns out that will the spacers fitted to 3 of the wheels the offset etc matches the 4th. With effectively as long as you use spacers in 3 they are a set.

Only problem, due to using the 3/4 inch spacers although the stud pattern is the same they would not fit as the studs coming out of the hub are not long enough. however for cars using studs screwed into the hub they will fit.

i.e. MkIV Golf's and MKIII Golf GTi's!!

This is a plus as, as long as i point out the need for spacers and use of studs not nuts, i can sell them on as a set of four and get a bit of money back for them!!!

Which all helps towards the costs of my new ones!!

We all tried to tell you mate!:lol: But at least now if someone you know mentions Venoms you will be able to do your bit and warn them off! You will never forget Venoms from now on I tell thee!:lol:

Sorry its cost you financially though!
