Cd Player

Hi everyone, I recently bought a yaris as my first car, however, it has a tape player and no CD player in it. I've been advised that I can only have a toyota CD player fitted or an FM Modifier, both of which are quite expensive. Does anyone know what other options I may have??

you can fit an aftermarket head unit to the yaris, fits in the gap above the ash tray, there are instructions for doing this yourself in the yaris how to guide

Welcome to the club, I'm not a mind-reader or anything but I'd guess that it was some1 from Toyota who told you you could only have a Toyota CD player fitted. You've got plenty of options if you're happy to have an aftermarket unit fitted like absolutely loads of people on this forum (including me). Whatever you want should be possible, whether it be a CD player, CD multi-changer, MP3 player etc, depending on your budget of course.

Hi and welcome! Another variation on the above from my car:

Very possible, and very easy! There's some great How To's on the forums with step by step instructions and piccies! Toyota also told me this wasn't possible, but the "Technician" was surprised when i went back with it done, i think they get given a standard script to follow sometimes!!

Hope you enjoy it here with us anyway!

Yo,

Was in the same situation as you a week or two ago except I wanted to upgrade the CD player.

Its actually really very easy to replace your cd player, I thought it would be harder than it was, and I would recommend it! Just follow all the excellent howto's around and you'll get there easy :D.

I would post a picture, but its not great quality, so I'll leave it.

Good luck anyway!

Hey Dicey2K, is there a how to guide for the way you have your cd player set up? I dont like it above the ashtray and having two cd players.

Can you give me any advise?

Natalie - its basically the same procedure for removing the old cd player, but instead of taking the tray out and putting your new cd player in, you put the parts outlined in this post in. Its not hard at all, the parts will cost you maybe £55 - £60? But it will look a load better IMO. Also you can sell your old tape/cd player on eBay and recoup some of the cost (I recently sold mine for £100).

I just got a sony multi changer for the boot and a wee unit that makes my car think there is a toyota cd player in it and allows me to use the cd buttons on my dash, whole lot cost me £120 and took like 45mins to fit.
