Heating Problems

Please help - my girlfriend has an MR2 roadster MRS import and it seems the heating has broken. The vents are now blowing out cold air with the heating control in any position. The engine temp is normal and the car is running fine, not overheating etc. Does the car heating come off the engine heat, or is there a heating filament? Could it be a thermostat.

I would be very grateful for any help - its rather cold today!!

99% certain it's the thermostat dude. Only a couple of quid and easy to do. Take the old one out and check it in a pot of boiling water. If it opens, it's fine, if it doesn't it's knackered.

HTH.

Above the gearbox at the end of the engine you'll find the water outlets from the cylinder head. There's one small one leading to the throttle body, large one going to the radiator and next to that one another mid way between the size of the two. That's the pipe to the heater matrix. If you can check those after running the engine for a bit without burning yourself you should be able to confirm water is getting to the heater matrix
