Townace. Have I Done The Right Thing?

Hi

I've just agreed to buy a Townace 2.2TD '91.

Been reading about little red buttons and insurance. It's a bit like reading a medical book...You get parnoid.

Trouble was I couldn't find much info about them.

We have two cars one of which is a R. Rover 3.9 petrol.

I only pay about £204 fully comp. I sort of assumed the townie would be less. Should I get ready for a shock? Does it's being an import make that much odds?

I also wanted something less expensive to maintain. Have I another shock coming?

I've seen all the breakers parts but are new parts available if needed?

Finally, youll be glad to hear, what consumption should I be looking at.

I bought it to ferry the kids around (plus band kit) and to stretch out in (I work shifts).

Cheers me dears.

Hi Teign,.....how is your townace? - I hope still going well.

I also have just bought a townace '91 2l 4wd td Royal Lounge.

This is my first visit to site/forum - am new member. how useful are the other levels of TOC ?

Does anyone have any idea where I can get an english manual for this vehicle.

What is the 'little red button' for (beside the auto gearshift).

I got fully comp for under £160 and includes some useful extras.

I am really happy with it.

How do I know when the timing belt needs replaced - have zero service history.

How often does it need serviced (what needs done).

Apologies if i seem dumb, but i really have no idea - any help appreciated.

Anyone any idea of parts/consumables supplier

regards

c

All going OK sort of, well it is old!

Who did you get £160 with?

Had my timing belt checked as a matter of course.
