Pollen Filter And Low Fan Air

GT4 BOOSTER
 Share

Recommended Posts

i posted earlier last week about the celica pollen filter and how to change it in gt4 .

my blowers on high were not that good and i spotted this filter on eBay .So curious me asked a few questions and set about finding it,I finally got it removed and i can tell you it was really dirty , so dirty it was black in colour which at the time i thought normal until i soaked it in hot water mixed with washing up liquid and soap powder .a FEW rinces with a hose it began to turn white .

all in all my blowers now blow really strong and clear the screen really quick now .

its meant to be only fitted to imports but someone with a uk spec may have a look just to see if thats true.

it may even be part of the 182 and 185 series???

the reason i washed it out is a new one from the dealers is close to £50

take out the glove box . under the centre box thing you will see 5 gold screws running along a rectangle plastic lid , about 6x1 in size with 3 or 4 black rubber bits hanging down from it, take out the screws remove the lid and pull filter out half way then it bends on a kind of hinge to allow full removal.

Don`t think the gen5 had one.... Leastways not as standard and i can`t find any reference to it anywhere.

But it`s a good idea someone (Marc) had the thought to clean one out and post about it . All those people who thought they had weak fans wil no doubt be relieved.

Booster you are a legend! so how do I get the glove box off? I have a loud rattle coming from behind there which I need to sort out and I could do the pollen filter at the same time.

first take off the black plastic trim near the floor to the left of the glove box to reveal a screw . on the right hand side opposite is another screw . next open up the glove box to reveal 3 more screws along the top. be carefull when it falls because you have 2 lots of wires to unplug , dont want any snapping.

i take it yours is a uk model then ? thats your main blower fan- if you have the filter its under here

another example of the differences between uk cars and imports , or maybe its unique to the gt4 only.

if you have the filter you will see a long plastic plate 6x1 inch ( pt.number 88899-20250) , held in by 5 gold screws , if this plate isnt there dont go into it, i'm not responsible for breakages. like i said it may well be just a gt4 thing - top of the range like.

here is what mine looks like broken down.filter is shown 88508-20010
