i needed to get the drivers side carpet out the car and after much swearing at the clutch rest that has no obvious means of removal, ie clips, screws or even just tuging on it, ive been at the end of my tether

ive recently been told though you have to look VERY closely and you can see two screw things in the tread itself!

here you can just see one at the top left and one on the bottom right

poke a screwdriver in the tread and twist 90degrees and it just pulls off

and here you can see the bracket near the clutch! phew!

They are stupidly well disguised! nice to be able to have a foot rest to use though- cant even get my foot on mine in the mk1 its to close to clutch , bit of a buggar on long journeys!
