idealy, you need the engine out .. I'm sure it could be done with it in place, but you'd need to remove a lot of the ancilleries to get to the bolts.

:crybaby:

Is it the manifold or downpipe that gonna cause the most problems?

the m'fold requires access to both sides of the engine (top and bottom) .. and the d'pipe will have rusted bolts ;)

You can do it with the engine in. But you`ll need to put it on ramps. or axle stands. Basically remove everything from the front edge of the rocker cover forward. Rad, alternator everything. Expect sheared manifold studs. I soaked mine for days with plus gas and still lost four. Pigs. :ffs:

Fitting is basically easy but on the 185 there`s a mounting point on the head that needs a bit of trimming.

It will run mighty close to the chargecooler so lagging that would be an idea.

I`ve deleted my pics from the gallery while i do some reorganising, but if you want to i`ll mail `em to you.

I hope you have a front mount intercooler ;) As it wont fit your car if your using the stock top mount charge cooler.

I have done a LOT of research into these, even setup a Gold Discount with the sole UK supplier.

They will both be a fair old job to fit, i remember doing the downpipe alone for the first time with no instructions.....took me 2weeks!

Jason at XS Power is busy getting the 'proper' ST205 version finished with help from a member of GT4OC.

The pipes on the net are for the REV1 & REV2 engines - regardless of the way the eBay adverts are worded.

I know it says ST205 at the top.....but read further down -

1st Generation (190 HP) 1988-89 ST165 (Celica GT4/All-Trac)

2nd Generation(200 HP) 1990-93 ST185 (Celica GT4/Alltrac)

1990 ++ SW20 (MR2 Turbo)

I hope you havent bought it yet

Yes they are very good, but the XS Power one is half the price and does the same job.

Fensport -Aussie - £199.00 - Toc Gold 10% = £179.91 + VAT = £211.39 + Delivery

XS-Power Own - £103.50 - Toc Gold 10% = £93.15 + VAT = £109.45 + Delivery

You could almost buy 2 XS Power downpipes for the same money :wheelchair:

Undid mine with 0 sheared studs. :P :D

Manifolds are far less critical on a turbo car, than an N/A. IMO tubular exhausts are not worth the work of fitting them, unless you are trying to extract the very last ounce of performance (and only then if they are very well designed and matched to the rest of the setup).

Also, they are far less durable than cast items - the weight of the exhaust and the turbo combined with all the thermal stresses often leads them to crack prematurely.

The only problem with paying to have it fitted is that you will need to pay to have it off for the MOT, and back on again after.....?

You could fit the Aussie/XS downpipe and then fit an aussie midpipe with highflow sports cat.

This will not only allow you to pass the MOTs but replaces the stock 2.5" flexi pipe (which is crap)
