Permagard

Just flicking through Feb's copy of Evo mag and noticed this company called Permagard in the classified. Went on the website and was really impressed with the results they had in their 'portfolio'.

Love how my car looks after I've spent a good good cleaning her from top to toe, but I'm increasingly not able to spare the time and this looks like the ideal solution, aswell as hopefully bolstering the resale value as hopefully the paintwork will be kept in mint condition.

Question is, have any of you guys had this done or the similar 'Superguard' from Mr T? And what do you think about it?

I've been quoted c. £400 inc VAT for full bodywork, wheels, engine and interior apolostery and plastics to be treated. Has to be 'serviced' after a year at a cost of £200.

Website clicky here!

What'd you guys reckon?

Chap i work with had his Civic TypeR done. It`s red so shows up any marks. And i have to say it`s still pristine. All he does is wash it once a week. It was done about a year or so ago and still looks like it came out of the showroom.

That's the kind of recommendation I was looking for!

I've got a few bits that need touching up (some b*gger keyed the drivers door), so that needs respraying, plus a few scratches here and there. I reckon I'll get those done in April time and maybe get the Permagard done just before Summer!

If it really does keep it looking showroom, then that'll be wicked! :D

To be honest I tend to find if I wash my car once a week it looks like its come out of the showroom! Generally thats what washing it regulary does!

 True. But it actually looks like it`s been highly polished every week. And it certainly hasn`t been polished by him. I think he gets his missus to wash it......... Now that sounds like a plan. :D

What a bird! But I thought the pictures of 'before' and 'after' on the site looked very similar, infact I could not see any difference just different angles. It's no more than Glory'fied polish really!

If you have £400 to spend then go ahead as in theory it sounds worth it.

Anyway I enjoy washing my car, it gives me an excuse to do nothing round the house. ;)

It looks good but not sure if I could justify the price of it. With an ss2 on 54K I'm constantly thinking about the cost it's going to take to get my superstrut done :( so I wont be indulging myself, but go for it if you're loaded!!

Wahey, just noticed my GOLD status in now in effect!! :) :)

What are you on about?? Whats a superstrut? Whats an ss2? and if its only done 54k then why are you worrying? Should I be worried? please explain

Don't get worried mate! :D :D

An SS2 is the Jap equivalent of the GT (except slightly more hp, but the best difference is the electric folding mirrors!!!! :) ( oh and the fact that they don't have those horribly ugly headlight washer thingys on the bunper!!).

Some of them (mine included) were fitted with the superstrut suspension package that the GT4s have and it has a shelf-life of about 60 to 100k. It is rather expensive to fix when it goes :crybaby: ....But it's worth it!! Handles so well, actually I'd love to drive one without it so I could see the difference (if any!!)

Gen 6 models have Superstrut front suspension. It`s supposed to keep the wheels parralel or something. It`s fine until it starts to wear out at 60-70K then it`s £300+ a side to get it sorted. I think MrT was thinking ahead when he designed it. Must have thought the parts demand would keep Toyota buoyant for a few years to come.

£300 a side I can live with!

I think that's just for the parts though isn't it?

 `fraid so. :(

I said don't worry!! Go get yourself a Mars Bar!

If yours is a UK model car then it wont have it. Daktari's got a GT4, he doesn't spend much time thinking about anything without a turbo!! :D

TBH, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I love cleaning my car and spending a bit of time with it every few months, but it does undoubtedly take up loads of time doing it..........

If for £400 you get the whole car looking "showroom" all the time, then that's got to be worth it.
