Carina E Emissions

My friend has a carina E 1.8 cd auto sat in his garage for the last 18 months due to a failed mot on emissions, he tried cleaning the o2 sensor but it still failed, the time has come to fix or scrap it, we got it out the garage today and it started first time :) but no fault code in the ecu due to only just connecting the Battery we left it running and came back to it 20 minutes later and still no fault code, does this mean that him cleaning the o2 sensor has cured it and it needs a good thrash to clear it outor are there any other known faults on these engines?

thanks for your time

left standing it's not re learning any values for the ECU. It needs to be driven around for 15-20 minutes and then you'll find out. Having the Battery disconnected means it's using default values that will not highlight any probs immediately. Worth getting down to the breakers for another sensor.

ok thanks just done a part request on 24/7 spares, i thought that it needed to be driven to learn again as i guess it's a similar ecu to my mr2 system that takes 10-20 miles to settle down after the Battery has been disconnected

also will i be able to get a senser off any carina e or does it have to have the 7a-fe lump? the one we have has 2 black wires 1 white and 1 blue

many thanks
