So you are looking for a UK spec, or an import NA Aerotop.

(why not an import turbo?)

Are you after Auto or Manual?

The cars are fairly reliable. Check the usual stuff as well as play on the turbo's and on things like brakes/clutch .. being a £40k car, parts are a tad more expensive than a normal car.

hi because the import turbos 3 k to insure for me and the uk turbo is 2k as the non turbo is 1600 so it all just depends on how much i pay for the car i would also be lookint o put on side skirts do u know how much u would pay for them and do u know anywhere i can get led tail lights like the ones on sklylines

So you are buying a car dependant on insurance, not on model. Cause they are VERY different cars to drive. The UK soup is a M'way muncher, where the Import NA is a point and squirt car with not a huge amount of power.

Sideskirts? What make?

LED lights? Why, the stock ones are just fine. I don't think there are many aftermarket kits, just UK/Jap spec ones.

Hey,

I've said it before but you might want to concentrate your efforts into researching about the actual car before even considering mods... particularly if your insurance will already be £2k without any mods declared.

That is a huge chunk of money on insurance alone - it's your business, but wouldn't you rather wait until you could get cheaper insurance and then buy a Supra dependant upon the one you prefer, rather than which one costs less to insure? Otherwise it won't be your 'perfect Supra'.

yeah, it does seem like you are desperate to get a 'supra' and seem not really to be thinking anything through, other than modifying it once you have it...

From what i remember, your still young, perhaps, as Caz says, wait a few years, and get something nice, rather than blowing a lot of money on something that could be a shed, and blowing another load on insurance and mods which you will never see again...

Caz is right .. 2k is a LOT of money!

How about hanging fire for your "dream" car until you have real driving experience and are old enough to actually. And don't just mouth off with a load of text speak ;) .. think about it. You are young, not many miles under your belt. You wanna upgrade from a 1.5 FWD hatch to a 300+ bhp, RWD twin turbo. You'll kill yourself, the car and anyone near you.

I'm 28 now, and have driven a luke warm hatch (12 months), 150bhp MR2 (18 months), 250~270bhp MR2 (48 months), 250bhp S2000 (6 months) .. I'm still nowhere near my dream car, but I'm working there and gaining experiance.

wise words from ben there (a rareity i know!), just because you can throw a punch doesnt mean your ready to step into the ring with Tyson...

and look at it like this - if you get your dream car before your 20 - what will you have to look forward to then? As with Ben, i'm still a long way from my dream car, but i know the wait will just make it more worthwhile...

disagree? as Leeky about his esprit?

well, im hoping to get one of my dream cars (the V8 beast, or 'hedge-backwards') in the next few years as a second car - my other dream cars will have to wait a while longer(unless i get lucky tomorrow night)..

FG - dont take this the wrong way - but if your buying a house, an expensive car is the last thing you want to be thinking of!

seriously, if youve taken into consideration stamp duty, solicitors fees, searches etc, not to mention, you need a car thats gonna last 4 years without needing much work, because guaranteed you'll spend a fortune on the house without realising! adding more money just to get a car is silly...

if i was you, id look at something uber-sensible (and reliable), or just stick with the yaris, and then in a couple of years, when your finances are straight, then look at treating yourself...

and mate, i'd help you out of those hairdresser chariots and into a real mans car!:lol::thumbsup:

I'd be after a prefacelift NSX with the 3.2 and SC'ed .. or a tweaked XR6 (one of the only good Fords).

Fast Gold (sorry don't know your real name) - You will be taking on a huge financial commitment with a house. It's something you just can't budget for... any figure you have in mind for outlay, multiply that by two.

Now I can't comment acurrately on your financial situation as I don't know you, but are you getting this loan through a reputable company? Why are you intent on spending huge amounts of money in one go??

Sorry dude but I'm going to have to say you'll be silly to do this. I got a small flat a few years ago and really stuggled even though I was earning a good wage... and I drove a cheap car.

I know you're hell bent on this Supra idea... but why? Are you trying to go for status? If so you'll end up falling back to earth with a short sharp bump.

I know that's harsh - but I'm concerned you're seriously rushing into (too many) things.

No problem Mark .. I know we all dream about having a car like that on the drive. But you gotta weigh in things like tyres, petrol and oil ..

It all adds up .. as I found out when I stretched to an MR2 Turbo .. Found out I had no money for food

But if you want one, start saving and researching .. you'll then be in a better place to buy one that's a minter.

aye - and ben's still makes a stick insect look a touch flabby even nowadays... i think he was planning on releasing one of these diet books - the lose 50 pounds in weight, and 5000 pounds in repair costs by buying a sportscar

but good luck with the house - that should be your priority for the short term, the car will happen with time..

I think youll find the insurance is suprisingly cheap for the S3 compared to other cars, my brother was looking for insurance for one and it turned out half the price of an escort rs2000 and 300 quid cheaper than a gti which is a 115bhp 1.8!!

CB

i gotta agree with these guys, there are 'hidden' costs with sportscars, its ok if you have a lump sum to purchase and insure it first off but...

itll be in the highest tax bracket

regular servicing and parts needed.... maybe £50 every 3k

itll DRINK fuel, there is no such thing as an ecomical sports car

what happend with next years insurance? have you got a lump sum for that too

plus id recommend buying an RWD car with a bit less poke, get used to it, some people here were born in RWDs like Charlie :P but if youve learnt initially with front drivers, with the back end putting the power down its a very different experience

and get all your facts 100%, ask people, many will help (like Lee) i bugged Bibbs for months on MR2s (he probably wanted to slap me) but i got all the knowledge and ended up with a fine example

:)
