Hello Everyone.

You will see me around here alot from now on! I am picking up my Yaris on saturday! Waheey! I am 17 and its my first car so i am rather happy, just a quick questions. I want to get some Speakers and fit them on saturday, what size are the door Speakers? so i can replace them with better quality ones and does the Yaris SR (2000 Model) have rear Speakers or not? if so what size are these?

Kind Regards

welcome  , the SR doesn't have rear Speakers as standard, but might have them as an optinal extra. have a browse in the "how to" section for speaker and head unit information.

I just want to check these are the correct parts to buy to wire up headunit.

The wiring adaptor you've found is the right one for the Yaris, it can also be bought at Halfords for £13 if you want it fast. But the facia adaptor you've put up is for a Rav4?? You can fit the new head unit without an adaptor by slotting it into the bottom space. Theres information on how to do this pinned at the top of the board.

We need to find out when Mr T changed it from the TTE exhaust to the chrome tip ....... mines sep '01 with a chrome tip, so it has to be before then. I wonder if I can buy it from them?

Im soo jealous as im looking for a red SR atm for my first car and just cant find one!!! (im also 17) Yeah your right about that RAV4 fascia so dont worry! You only need that though if you plan to replace the whole CD unit (recommended) That means that you also need a part from toyota aswell that is a replacement unit where the CD player is where your Double din RAV4 piece will slot in. Try searching on the forum and you will easily find the items im on about!

Alternatively you can put the new HU in the coin tray under the old CD player and you just unconnect the old CD player and use the toyota to HU convertor plug you talked about into you new HU in the slot below. If you search you will find lots of pictures (lots of other topics about this have been started even recently!)

Good luck with this and dont be afraid to ask any more questions! Its a really great forum here! (i have been here a year and only just about to get my yaris!!!) If you enjoy the forum go gold and get loads of discounts (including mods such as audio websites discount) and an exsclusive gold forum :D

Stick around and have a good time!

Here's a guide on the door speakers:

Door speaker guide

The rear Speakers require a green wiring loom from toyota (about £15) if you're connecting to standard HU.

If you're changing the HU, you'll need a fascia adaptor from toyota and the Rav4 cage thing. You'll also need a Toyota-ISO wiring adaptor.

Hope you enjoy your car when you get it and welcome to the club!

Or for the cheaper option - splice the door speaker cable

But it depends on what sort of setup you want/quality

If your using an aftermarket HU with 4 outputs and you want 6 so you can add rears, do you still use the toyota green loom or is there another component you can get for aftermarket units? Surely you dont HAVE to splice on an aftermarket for 6 Speakers?

You'd need the wiring loom, yes.

Most decent headunits have Aux-Outs, so you can run phono cables to an amp which power rear Speakers.

That's the norm anyway.

I dunno if it has a TTE exhaust. I will check on saturday, i take it that is better than the new chrome one? Thank you for the advice on the audio system!! There is a nice red SR in autotrader if your still looking, i was going to get it i rang up and everything but i realised i dont really like red cars unless they start with Ferr and end in ari. :P

Cheers for warm welcome!!

I hope it has TTE exhaust then?! Does it just sound better or does it actually do something?

Its an X reg. I payed £4150 and it only has 22,000 miles!

We bargained man down to £4200 from £4500 and he gaves us extra £50 off as he liked my dads car! (S2000!)
