Jdm St205 Airbag Question

Is the drivers airbag on the JDM/import gen 6 GT4 standard equipment, or is it an optional extra? I think all UK ST205s have one as standard (and maybe all gen 6 celicas).

I've seen an ST205 import with an aftermarket steering wheel, and was suspicous that it might have been accident repaired, replacing the standard wheel rather than buying a new oem airbag one.

Dunno about the GT4 but my SS2 hasn't got them so I'd say there's a good chance it was an optional extra on the GT4 aswell

Airbag was option on the Imports, standard from 96 onwards i think.

I think they did'nt have them for the same reason children are'nt allowed them. As the japanese are smaller than other races they found that more injuries were caused than were prevented!

really - am no racist or anything - but i find that quite amusing the thought of a wee china man losing his head in a nasty airbag explosion.......... ignore me.....

:D :D :D It's also why the steering wheels tilt - so they can see over the top of it!!

Thanks, it was a 95 car that I'd seen, so I guess it never had an airbag.

I already have a decent celica - doesn't burn any oil, 100% reliable, and an engine with -GE designation. :P But yes, a gt4 would be an upgrade. Will only do it if I can get one at the right price though, the one I've got my eye on is an absolute gem if it checks out ok. Plus I've got to try and sell my existing car, I know I won't get much for it, the 2nd hand car market is pretty poor at the moment. But I wouldn't have space to keep it either - already got 8 cars on the drive, my Mum would go spare if I got another.

The other option is a supercharger upgrade to mine, but it would need a fair bit of fettling and development to get it set up. And it's my daily driver at the moment, I can't really afford it to be off the road.

To be honest though after you saying your Mum's Drive I was expecting you to be about 19
