Seats

The Yaris belongs to Her Indoors so I don't drive it that much but when I do I find the Yaris really cramped.

I drove an Austin Mini when I was a kid and it was fitted with brackets that pushed the drivers seat back about 3 or 4 inches ... something like that would be perfect.

Any ideas?

Just an observation....

Its your missus' car, you dont drive it that much - so are these seats for you or for your missus?

I mean if your missus is happy and its her car, then not much point changing them! My other half is 6ft plus and rarely drives my Yaris and yeah, he found it a bit on the cramped side - but if he changed my seats, bearing in mind he hardly drives my car - I'd be well miffed!

Im 6'3" and have lot's of room ..... it was one of the reasons I chose it. If you think the yaris is cramped try a clio or a pug 106.

I drove the wifes car about 5 or 6 times in a very very cramped position then finally found that the seat sort of stuck half way, a harder push and now have loads of leg room as the seat goes way way back... :D

Thanks Gnome, I knew I was getting something wrong

I'm over 6ft but with !Removed! great long legs, I drive the Yaris like I'm about to give birth.

I have never fitted into bucket seats cos I'm too broad across the shoulders, so the seat bracket solution from my Mini days would have been ideal.

Perhaps I'll just rip out the drivers seat and pull the rear squab forwards a bit :)

If you do go down the route of replacing the seat(s), there are several maufacturers who do 'normal people' sized replacements.

I think its fair to say Im not skinny and my Kei Recliners are both supportive and roomy enough that they dont squash. I know Earpl has found a set of fixed buckets with similar dimensions hes after... corbeaus I think?

Something I discovered that helped a lot, is adjusting the steering wheel height/angle.

I'm quite an "upright" driver though, and my knees kept hitting the steering wheel until I discovered that. :)

Yeah, I see where you're coming from, I never feel completely comfortable when I'm driving my car, I'm 5'11 & my knees are bent far more than I'd like. When I 1st bought my car (after having already spent 2 year's solid savings on it) I sat in it & was worried I wouldn't be able to drive it, but I can put up with it when the seat is all the way far back. The only solution I can think of is to buy a bigger car next time.

Even I fit very comfortably in Lorne's Kei seats... very supportive.

Those who know me can say that I ain't small, and I find the Yaris fine! I drove a Matiz before.. now that's cramped!!

It's just finding the right position... recline the seat is quite a good way of making room for a bigger begger!
