Bodywork Colour Problem Metal/plastic

Hi all,

I picked up my blue MR2 yesterday. I chose to have the supagard exterior and interior protection applied by the dealership. I have noticed that there is a considerable difference in colour between the body paintwork and the front bumper, the bumper being lighter.

Seeing the car before the supagard had been applied I didn't notice such an extreme contrast in colour.

Has anyone else experienced this problem ?

Could the supagard be the cause of this ? if so what should I do ?

Look forward to hearing from anyone

Hello, this post might get a better response from more people in General Discussions (perhaps a moderator could help?) but, as someone who had his Yaris given the Supagard treatment I found no difference in colour between the metal and plastic panels whatsoever.

Okay, my car is Thunder Grey so maybe it wouldn't be as noticeable anyway but there shouldn't be a difference. It's only a coating after all. It would also not be in Toyota's interest to offer the service as an option if it did this.

One thing, the treatment does leave a white powder residue for a while after being done. Parts of my car did have that until it was given a good wash a week or so later. Perhaps that's what's causing the difference in shades on your car?

I'd take it back and have a word with your dealer.

Just had another thought. Is the whole bumper a different shade? If so, it sounds more like a paint match problem. New car, you say? They've no option other than to put it right for you.

Hello 'Al J'

Thank you for your help and advise. It does seem like a paint match problem. I will go back to the dealership and take it from there.

Thank you

Helen
