Stolen Recovered

been scouting for a YTS on the autotrader site, and found that the cheapest was on about 21k and costing just under £6k. Said that it had been stolen and recovered and therefore cheap, but I've never known why this is such a problem...?!! Does it effect your insurance or what?

I've seen this on other car ads, where the offer has been extremely tempting, and wondered how much of a bad thing it would be to buy a previously stolen-recovered car?

little help...?!

cheers

Paul

hi..

I suppose it can affect insurance if the security hasnt been fixed or up-rated. But from experience most people who have been lucky enough to get their car back, dont want to keep it any longer. They sometimes feel it's no lnger their car anymore, or don't feel safe in it.

My nieghbour hadhis W reg Subra Wrx, stolen last year. He got it back within 72hrs as the theiving torag was local and was spotted by an passer by. He sold the car (which had no damage) for £4k below value just to get a quick sale.

Surinder...

Just bear in mind that those people who steal cars have no regard for looking after the engine. Stolen cars tend to have the :censor: revved out of them. I'm not saying that overrevving the engine for a short period of time is going necessarily kill it, but then that depends exactly how it was treated. There is no way to know. If buying from a dealer, make sure you get a cast-iron warranty on the engine for at least 12 months. Make it plain that you want the warranty because the engine may have been mistreated.
