i live in the us. and i have a 95 celica gt with the sometimes sad 5sfe. and front wheel drive. i was just wondering if anyone could tell me if it is possible to drop a 3sgte and it's drivetrain into my car. i have heard rumors that the exhaust channel on my us st202 is not really made for the driveshaft on the gt4.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Yes it can be done and it has been done buy someone in the States before.

The engine and gearbox is a straight drop in, you will need the bigger ST205 fuel pump also.

The driveshaft will fit down the transmission tunnel with little or no modification.

You will need to make some mounts for the rear diff, you may be able to buy the ST205 mounts from Toyota.

Hi welcome to TOC  As Leeky says it can and has been done. If you go to www.alltrac.net I`m pretty sure one of the guys that did it is active on there. If not they`ll point you in the right direction.

Have you not considered the easier option of putting the 3S-GE (MR2) motor in? Nowhere near as much hassle and not a lot slower performance wise.

If you use an mr2 turbo gearbox you can leave it FWD

You`d probably have traction and torque steer issues. The GT4 loses about 25% of its power through the transmission. The MR2 tubby only loses about 18-20% so a standard revision 5 Tubby would be delivering about 200BHP at the wheels. OK if it`s the rear ones but not so hot on the front. All figures are approximate and depend on the state of tune obviously.
