the WRX was a limited run .. to be able to use antilag, water spray and water injection in the WRC, 2500 "road" cars needed to be made with these fitted (but disabled).

So they have a few extra goodies .. which you *can* get working ..

oh ok, cos it seems they have less power then the imports. but obviously not if u have this stuff working.

hmm, wonder how many have the stuff enabled...

I think they should be the same as the imports (BHP).

The antilag will shred a stock turbo in no time as the turbo only needed to last one weekend of rallying. I beleive the WI etc was a bit easier.

I *think* it was 2500 and I *think* only that number were made .. bit of googling will drag up your questions.

Only 2500 WRC's were made for Homologation reasons.

They have NO more power than a standard GT4.

All the extra equipment is disabled.

The UK GT4's have 239bhp and the Imports have 255bhp

Unless you have my stock UK ST205 which showed 271BHP and 260LbFt at GT4OC rolling road day at interpro, was in J-Tunner last month :D

The power figures seem to vary quite a bit seen as low as 220 on some and others like mine come out around the 270 mark, regardless of UK or Jap spec.

Was nice to see the look of the stock jap guys who had moments before been saying oh well don't worry UK ones still usually make 250BHP. Especially since mine beat all the stock jap cars there.

possibly the spray bar with alot of effort , provided you can find nozzles that give a fine enough spray pattern ,then there is pump .electrics ,etc

anti lag is nigh on impossible due to needing the original wrc racing ecu .also the turbo and possibly internals wont last much over 1000 miles .

you may as well stick with a stock st205 and mod this with water injection , de cat and sports exhaust , upping the boost to 1.1 bar ,forged pistons , this will see close to maybe over 300 bhp .

You can enable all the wrc toys.

Water sprayer is easiest, not sure what you need but very common for WRC owners to turn this on.

To use the Antilag you will need an ECU that supports the feature like a MOTEC, also its advised to change the turbo for a steel bladed hybrid so that it lasts compared to the standard ceramic one whcih wont make it to 1000miles with antilag on.

Water Injection is also possible but not sure whats involved.

Andrew - 271 on a stock car is very impressive  Are you 100% sure a previous owner hasnt done anything to it?

You do find all engines are different, sounds like you got a good one there

GT4 BOOSTER - 1.1bar usually works out at about 310-320bhp on an st205 with decat and 3" exhaust running at least 97ron fuel. Forged pistons are only worth it if you go up to and above 1.2bar boost. Stock pistons at 1.2bar are very dodgy and can (as dawesy found) melt because of the high charge temps. With water injection you should be able to get 1.2bar or 1.3 for a short time on standard pistons with a nice big FMIC.

all i can say is mine is just running 1.1 bar and no other mods and it still makes my guts tickle my taste buds at times .god knows what 320 bhp feels like , must be marvellous

 I never got my GT4 that high, 300bhp was the highest i got it as i was running the standard 1bar boost. But the 400bhp my supra was putting out was insaine. Pushed you so far into the seat that i thought i would damage the leather

Just out of interest what mods you got on yours?

performance wise , K1ANO bleed valve set at 1.1 bar , and a TRD panel filter

i'm liking that aristo also , very statesman like

hehe cheers man, im going for the whole sleeper look.

So you've still got the cat and the stock exhaust system then? you got a boost guage? it goes up to 1.1bar with the cat still in? I didnt know you could get 1.1bar with the cat in. Cool :D

interesting, cheers for the info...i dont think a WRC warrents the extra cost

i think 350hp would be a good amount, i plan to get one of these after uni and spent a little modding it up, what u recon, £1k to get it to 350hp? i think the money would be better spent on the gt4 and keep the yaris power standard, although still sort out the wobble

I would personally go for a WRC myself, they are no more expensive than normal GT4's and have that rareness value.

Also you do have all those extra toys if you did want to use them in the future.

There are lots of WRC's for around £4k on autotrader

£1k should get you to 350bhp ok

ok so yes theoreticaly you can enable all the extra wrc stuff. but 1, the spray bar is no use unless you have a FMIC. 2, the water injection will need a lot of bits for it to work (if you connect it up using the original injector, you will fill the cylinders with water in about 30secs). 3, the antilag is very agressive, your turb will last about 2 secs and an aftermarket one about 20 mins.

i ha MoTec running ALS on the rolla . it was a very mild setup but still gave 1.5bar boost when engaged... the turbo however was shot after about 7000 miles and the ALS was only used on rare occasions.

get a jap import. they are in better condition, better serviced and have some little extra bits UK ones dont
