Lol ken

Im seriously thinking of getting the 2c WI kit and having the ecu +mapping done at thor. I guess this is what im looking at:

http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/Celica_GT4_ST...T205_Stage1.asp

What difference does the WI make? Does it directly make your car go faster? or does it just allow higher boost? sorry for all the Q's

Thanks

(also, do you have a 3sgte in your avensis? your 'Click here to see the World's most modified Avensis'

link doesnt work)

That's the one you need, WI allows you to run higher boost safely which then makes you go faster

The garage is down at the moment but their is indeed a 3s-gte under the bonnet ;)

No need for the fuel pressure regulator as the link will be looking after that :D

cool.. that will save a bit of money.

What boost you running? What boost should i run on my stock turbo after fiting the ecu and WI?

thanks again

I'm running 1.1 which is what you are running now, they will advise you what boost to run once the car is on the dyno and they can see what is what as each 3s seems to have a mind of it's own

just going down to thor racing now to check them out :D

Right im back now and they seem alright down there.. they remember you ken :P

They recon would benefit from a FMIC and they werent to sure if the WI was really needed... any thoughts on this?

I am indeed that memorable :D

I've a FMIC but thats because my 3s is from a 2, hmmm right, if you are going to go the whole hog at some point then yes do it and go fm'ed but if you are going to be happy with what you have after this then stay as you are with WI.

reading up about the 3s in the US .. it was actually shown to be batter cooling to have the stock MR2 IC and WI than just an aftermarket IC.

You have the CC (ont the IC) so you'll have less heatsoak. Get the WI and some temp sensors in and then watch your charge temps drop.

sock charge cooler is good for around 450bhp

water injection is a great thing to have as it gives that extra piece of mind.

i have now gon for a FMIC on the rolla but only cos i hope to be runing around 500bhp very soon

Ive been told before that the standard charge cooler is good for up to 450bhp. I would rather get a WI kit than buy a fmic for £700.

Ken, i didnt realise that wen u said the ECU controls the boost it just sets it at a certain level when mapped (and cost extra £100) and if you want the ecu that allows you to adjust the boost yourself its another £200 on top of that.

Just wondered how the normal WI kits are controlled if you buy one that isnt controlled by the ecu?

part of the reason i went with the MoTec M4 as i can now have gear dependant boost and (via a 12 position switch) 12 different settings for boost and ignition etc  however the MoTec was £1200 plus mapping (fitted it myself) so i guess its all relevant. the link ECU is good for the money. plus you can have a separate EBC and let that take care of the boost.
