2006 Verso Rear 12 Volt Supply

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting the T180.

I have one of these cool boxes that plugs into a 12 volt (cigarette style) socket.

The UK brochure shows a Verso with a cool box in the boot - but I can't work out where it plugs in (I couldn't find a boot 12 volt socket when I checked in the dealership - and the salesman hadn't a clue....).

Questions:

1. Can any Verso owners tell me if there is a 12 volt supply in the boot?

and if there is

2. Does it stay live when the key is removed from the ignition? (If it doesn't - it won't stay as a cool box for long....)

Thanks,

Creamola.

Well, excuse me for answering my own question - but obviously none of you could.

Just got a call back from Toyota technical support: Despite a cool box being an approved Toyota accessory for the Verso (as illustrated on page 07 of the current brochure) the rear 12volt line does go off when the key is removed from the ignition. That's a fat lot of good when your cool box is no longer going to keep cool - but it may explain why, in the brochure, it is pictured full of oranges - because oranges don't need to be refridgerated - presumably.

I was going to change to the T180 from a Volvo V70 (which does have a live 12 volt feed in the back) - so I guess that my search for another car is back on again....

would you really dismiss a car choice for something like that? It would be trivial to fit (or have fitted) a 12v direct Battery feed to the rear if you really need it. Oh and the T180's a great car!

Get the Corolla Verso T180, You will not regret it, I love my 2005 2.0DTI D4D Corolla Verso T3. It is a very nice car to drive, and you can run a 12v cooler box, by wiring a new fuse box off the Battery, and connecting a 12v cigarette lighter socket from that! It should even work when the car is turned off, and key out of ingition. Tried it on a Yaris, and even a Seat Arosa, and it worked prefectly!

Thanks for the responses everybody. This is going to be a company car. The company asked the dealer (don't know which one) if they could put an additional permanently live 12volt supply in, and the answer was "no".

I went ahead anyway thinking, as Essex Toura suggested, that I might be able to rig something up myself.

So, the T180 in Silver and with the parking sensors turns up next Friday to replace a 4 year old Volvo V70 D5. The reason for finally getting it, is that it goes so fast, that it is the first car that has ever made me laugh with surprise at the way it motors.

You wont be disappointed :-)

And yes I bought mine because I love the way it motors. Still have a grin on my face when I drive it!
