Classic Celica Ra21 1973

I read a topic on some guy running 13 seconds in the quater mile at 130 miles per hour. I have serious doubts about that claim. That speed should put you in the low 11's to high 10's. I have a 1973 Toyota Celica ST with a 4 speed tranny that I transplanted and the stock 3.92 automatic rear end. I have also put on a 45 DCOE side draft weber set up on and a full MSD ignition system. I have also put in an ACT street/strip clutch. I have taken about 200 pounds off the car as well, my car is pushing close to 145 hp at the wheels and I am running 14.3 seconds at 95 miles per hour. The stock weight on these years were 2250 pounds.

I agree - I used to have a Mk1 Celica with a tuned Rover V8 in. I swopped the axle for the LSD one from a GT and then was getting mid 13's at 104mph which compares with your ET and speed for accuracy. There is a Chevy powered RA23 that was in the tens at around 130mph, so there's no way a 13 sec car would be hitting the same terminal speed as that - unless he's got gobs of power from somewhere and starts off in 3rd gear!!! :P

I to agree with you. I think the only way other than the one you said, that he would hit 130 and run 13's would be he had to have been smoking the tires all throughout 1st, 2nd, and part of 3rd gears.
