Avensis Tourer Roof Bars

When I purchased my used 04 reg T-Spirit, I asked about cross-bars for the roof. The salesman in the Dealership (not my local one) showed me where the roof bars could be stored beneath the floor of the loadspace when not in use. I subsequently ordered a pair from my local dealership, but they do not fit under the floor if the tonneau cover is in its storage space. No-one at any dealership, not even the one I bought the car from, can shed any light on the subject. Nor can Toyota Customer Services. Can anyone help me with info?
