What makes you so sure on that?

That car has a hint of mk4 from every angle - even they door mirrors look similar. I wonder what they are going to call it, because they definitely seem be badging it as Toyota and not Lexus. Oh, and the 5L V8 is going to have 450 bhp, I wonder what it could do with a supercharger added?

I'd say its the new soarer/Lexus SC.

After all the old one is crap,

The soarer and Supra have always had the same underpinnings, so I'd imagine this will be the new oarer/SC, and if its any good, they may build a lighter, tin top only "racey" one and call it a supra.

That's all very well but thats not to say they won't bring out a vehicle that is for all intense and purposes a MkV Supra but under a different name.

I like the look of that but i'll be about 50 years old before i could afford a second hand one if it does go into production :( (Unless my numbers come up or i do a post office raid!)

Now, I know what your saying, and yes, they plan a sports coupe, which will replace the MR2/Celica, but not the Supra... and i'll bet its going to be a 'familt oriented' car.

even Honda are killing the NSX - and they have sports car intentions..

Remember that the current soarer is sold as a Toyota in Japan and badged as the Lexus SC430 here.

The fact that is has an electric roof is very 'soarer'ish and as we all know the current soarer is gonna be replaced soon.

My money is on that being the new Toyota Soarer/Lexus SC500 and that they are doing it as a Hard Top and a Convertible

As many have said the Supra name is dead in the water, as is Celica and MR2.

I hear you, there is not a Toyota on the current UK market that would interest me in any way.

I guess as Charlie and Lee say this could well be the Soarer replacement and we may not even get to see it in the UK for some time if at all.

I did pick up from the photos of magazine pages that both engines were originally designed for Lexus (we all know the partnership.

This article some magazine in japan is speculating what the replacement for the three being whittled off. It's something similar to what one would read in Evo or Top Gear, but years later when the car is actually released, it's very different...

Look at the Prototype "MKIV MR2" that was brought to JAE a few years ago. It will never ever happen...

Fidge, Production on the MKIII MR2 has already come to a halt (as has the Soop - years ago though). Celica is to go next...

Toyota is probably working on a new performance car, but I doubt it's this...

I think they're scrapping the Supra name because there are so many chavvy idiots buying them now - it'll only get worse as the prices drop as well.

Imagine Vauxhall bringing out 2 new cars, and calling them the Nova and Cavalier!!!

Whatever they call it, im gonna be at the front of the queue for a hardtop 5ltr when they come out ;)
