Non Stock Radios Have No Am Reception? Any Fixes?

Hoping someone can possible guide me as I'm feeling a bit discouraged with this...

AM reception is extremely important as I MUST be able to listen to my talk radio :) Cant do without it!

The issue is, the stock radio gets perfect AM reception but non stock units appear to get no reception. I'm tried multiple Kenwood, Panasonic as well as a single Dual unit and although all of them work flawlessly with FM, they are incapable of getting anything but static on AM stations.

If I reconnect the stock radio, AM works perfectly...unfortunately I cant use this unit as the LCD LEDs have burned out so it is all but unreadable during the day and totally unreadable any other time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I read that there is a 'trimmer adjustment screws' in older cars that adjust AM reception...are these still used? If so, where can I find this...I looked and cant see anything in specific...I'm no car enthusiast - just know enough to be dangerous - so I wouldnt be surprised if I totally missed it.

Thanks!
