Imports And Uk Cars

Hi all,again!

As my last topic was about the celica itself I now want to know the difference between a UK spec car and a japanese import. I am a bit worried about an import but dont know why. I understand that they have got a few extras but what should stop me having an import? Sorry if this has been asked a million times before.

imports have air con , leccy folding mirrors .

uk models have sunroof .

if you buy import chances are it will be low mileage , better serviced and will be better condition due to jap weather . it will most likely need an alarm fitting for insurance purposes - churchill and norwich union do imports as uk models as they see no difference in the car uk v's import

i would opt for the import , my 1995 gt4 is immaculate apart from a few stone chips on the bonnet

Thanks for that. The insurance thing is the major thing as my mums boyfriends first celica was a uk car and paid £500 insurance, then got an import and the same company tried to quote £1000. I think direct line are also a good company for imports as thats who he changed to.

Any more advice would be welcome.

Imports have a little more BHP, some have the extra of super strut suspension. I would pay a little more on the insurance and get an import lower miles better condition.
