Need Brake Help!

Hi guys,

sorry haven't been for on here ages... :wacko:

right problem is.... :!Removed!:

went out last week... kinda ragged my car a little and had to do some serious braking :eek: after that heard a strange noise from the front end, sounded like brakes binding.... as i drove home, tail between legs, noticed sound got worst... lots worse..

took front passenger side wheel off to find the wheel was very hard to turn... put it down to a f*cked caliper, changed caliper and front disks and pads...

problem is noise is still there, when i'm driving at spped can't hardly hear it but when i slow down its there and you can really hear the brakes on the front left trying to bind! little pee'd off :ffs: as i've spent money on a new caliper, disks and pads and this hasn't cured the problem.... please please help, cos am about ready to cry like a little girl :crybaby:

If you replaced the caliper, disc and pad and it sounds/feels like its still binding it may be the flexi hose. If you let a caliper dangle by them or just through general wear the hoses can come apart inside and cause a blockage in the line stopping brake fluid depressurising, this would cause the piston to remain out and the brakes to bind.

Although if not due to brakes I would vote for the wheel bearing too.

thanks guys, kinda thinking it mite be the hose as well.... there's no play in the wheel, so don't think its the bearings... will get some new hoses and see what happens :thumbsup:

Before you throw more money at it, why not spend a few minutes diagnosing the fault.

I would have thought if you crack the bleed screw and watch it as someone presses the pedal would you not be able to see if the fluid was flowing right?

if un do the bleed nipple surely all it will show is fluid flowing out, need to know if the fluid is returning. not sure how i would be able to tell this?

Maybe the new brakes just need bedding in?

And the noise could still be a wheel bearing - you wouldn't necessarily feel play or hear it grinding whilst turning by hand. I don't see how the brakes could still be at fault after replacing everything like you have, unless it's being caused by a fault in the master cylinder or abs pump.

gonna try the flexi pipe... its the cheapest option first... would of thought if it was the master cyclinder, it woiuld effect all wheels not just one? as for the abs pump... have no idea(but think a new one will be pricy!) :crybaby:

very confussed by the whole thing, i know its a brake fault related fault, can tell by the noise... just need to pin point it... so any help is greatfully received... :thumbsup:

Not really, pads do just rub lightly on the disks most of the time under normal conditions though. Sometimes you can just hear it at slowish speeds, but it shouldn't be loud enough to hear with the windows up. If it's not been used for a few days and the disks get a bit of corrosion on them, it often makes a bit of a scraping noise until they clean up.

well this noise you can hear whilst driving with the windows up :!Removed!: , ordered brake hoses so gonna do that tomorrow... guess there easy to fit? :unsure:

Brake hoses are eay to fit, just make sure you have the right spanners, some brake fluid, and that you bleed the brakes afterwards. Undo the cap on the M/C and put some clingfilm over it, then screw the cap back on before you start, that will stop TOO much fluid escaping.

It may be a caliper failure, try jacking each wheel up in turn. Check to see if any are stiff, if it's just one then its likely to be a fault in that line/caliper. If 2 are at fault it may be a problem in the M/C, check if the two brakes at fualt are on the same M/C circuit.

Well problems still there in only one wheel! so wasn't the hose! :ffs: so any ideas? does anyone have a braking circuit diagram? :help:
