I bought an MR2 last week and it is loads of fun to drive. It's a Mark 2 Version 1 - 1991 H reg, I've noticed that revs redline at 6000rpm, which version is mine?, i think it is a 120bhp rather than 158bhp?

Please help as i might have brought the wrong version.

Cheers

Have a look on the side of the engine on the cam-belt cover.

It'll be either state 3s-GE (155bhp) or 3s-FE (120bhp) ..

Think all the 'G' engine should red line at about 7.4k rpm.

How much persormance difference is there between the 2 versions, because 120bhp one feel pretty quick. Please let me know so i can either sell it or keep it. I've paid £400 for the car which i think is a good price for 91 H reg MR2.

There is a big difference .. best thing to do would be to drive one and make your mind up :)

Your engine is an "economy" one, the GE is supposet to be a "performance" one.

Also try and get a rev2 car for the bigger brakes ;)

:P or a tubby conversion when you get bored ;)

Thanks guys, I think I will get a Rev 2 or 3 Tubby. I used to have Impreza Sti and Pulsar GTi-R before and they were amazing cars, but i always fancied MR2, so Tubby it is then, well very soon.

Anyone wants to buy my MR2 :D

No, but I've got a tubby for sale :D

For £400 you should be able to eBay it for £1000 at least .. good luck.

I'd try IMOC or MR2OC as these are free to advertice sites (you have to be a paid member on here to advertise).
