Ecu Fault Reader Software/hardware

I have a 1999 Gen6 Celica SR (1.8i), what type of ECU interface does this have and can anyone recommend some software and hardware for me to read the ECU? (No current fault light but I would be interested to see what ECU faults are logged and I have to get a fault reader for our Alfa Romeo 156, if it could do the Celica as well it would be useful - the Alfa is a EODB i/f)

There is a simple way to use a paperclip and then read the ECL flashes and then look them up on a table.

I think all modern Toyota's (not the gen 6, but the gen 7) use the standard OBD II port.

Clicky ..

Hope this is what you are after?

They sell the error code readers on eBay but they are a lot more expensive that a mere paperclip
