Ver7 190 Celica

quick hello, being the 1st post i'm making on here

myself and the girlfriend were looking around last weekend for new cars, only criteria it had to meet were reliable, stylish, reasonably quick, and able to get my golf and cricket kit in the boot.

test drove a 190 celica, i loved every aspect of the car with the excepetion of the brakes, wheels and suspension, girlfriend could only fault the wheels and brakes

so we're now seriously considering getting one

just wondering what the major niggles with the car may be, how reliable they are and what sort of running costs are expected

thanks

What year were you looking at getting!

I know from reading on hear there was a problem with the lift bolts on earlier models but was sorted out on later models! If i remember it wasnt to expensive to put right though! That and the corroding wheels are the only problems ive read about!Im sure all the Gen7 drivers will be about later!

Firstly, welcome to TOC

Best thing to do first is to check out the Search function at the bottom of the Celica Forum page - type in 190 AND VVTLi and you'll come up with a whole host of threads where this topic has been discussed before. Also, in particular check out this thread which corresponds pretty closely with your question:

Have a squizz through these threads and if you have any further questions, we're happy to help!

One over-riding comment though - by buying a Celica, you're buying an incredibly well bolted together bit of kit, likely to last an age (when properly looked after and maintained) and one you can certainly have a ball in. Particularly the 190/T-Sport!!!!!! :D

Well, i recently gotmine. Few issues like spongy brakes (soon to be rectified with new discs and pads). I think it rides to high too.

But asSpuff says, its really well put together and im loving it!

doesnt really help you much but i bought a celica badged as a 190 last year from castle mototrs (liskeard) wasnt happy with the performance and on investigation found it to be a 140 with the 190 stuck on :censor: took the car back (along with my 18 stone body) and got a refund , so whatever you do dont go there!!!
