Intermittent Screech

I have a 2003/52 Avensis 1.8VVTi last of old shape 5 Door, and I have noticed that on occasion I can hear intermittent screeches from the brakes. It is as if the discs are touching the pads (or vice versa).

I do not know what to do, so maybe someone can help.

The noise is like a chirp, chirp, chirp when going between 50mph and 60mph. If I brake, let go then the chirping stops for around 10 seconds and continues again.

The car did have disks and pads at around 30,000 miles, it has now done 41,000 miles.

Help please.

Thanks

Could possibly over heating caused by a caliper that is seized.

The chirping is the pad that is hitting the disk.. the disk sound slightly warped too.

Have the calipers checked out

TIP:// do a long run then with a water pistol squirt a small amount of water onto the discs.. if one of them steams alot more than the other then thats the disk that is worn.

driving around town can also get hot too.

Seized calipers (if it is that) can be un-seized, cleaned and put back together. Should take a garage less than an hour to do.

What I noticed over the past few days, whilst it has been wet, is that the noise has dissappeared!

Is it the case of "greasing" something in the brake area? I am very car-illiterate, does my car have 4 discs?

Thanks,
