Common Avensis Window Problem ?

Hi everyone.

Has anyone any experience of fitting/using the old fashioned wind and rain deflectors such as the one found at :

http://www.extremeautoaccessories.co.uk/pr...A0%A0+Go+%A0%A0

They used to be all the rage thirty years ago (remember when your driving insstructor taught you to drive with the passenger window open just on the off-chance that you'd need to use hand signals ?). No, I've never used them since either !

However, chuffed as I am with my 2002 'Vensis, on days like today when it's pouring with rain, opening the window even by an inch results in water dripping onto the electric switches in the armrest. Prudent advice would be "Don't open the window then !" but as a cigarette smoker (I know, I know, but it's not as harmful to my health as my other vice - I'm a Wolverhampton Wanderers supporter !) I doubt if I could travel 300 miles without a nick-o-teen fix !

Has anyone fitted them ? Any problems with the electric windows not shutting properly once they're fitted ? Any recommendations as far as suppliers are concerned ?

Thanks,

The Old Man.

Yep, i fitted them to mine about 4 years ago so i could see out of my wing mirrors whilst driving in the wet on motorways.

They have to flex a bit to fit but once in they do the job that i wanted them to do, after 4 years though i have to close the window by keeping my finger on the button as the rubber is a bit squashed at the top. Also if having a !Removed! as you get in the car wipe the deflector down with a cloth if it's been raining or you will get soaked when you set off.

Bought mine from a A1 motorstore

Thanks Ken. There's obviously a lot of thought gone into the Avensis design but diverting water from the roof away from the windows must have been overlooked !
