Front Grille

Hi All,

Quick ? if I may...

... I read somewhere that there was an optional grille available for the facelift Gen6. I have had a word with MrT and he seems to think that he has found it on the computer. Trouble is it is not clear from the pic and they won't let me return it if it turns out to be wrong.

My ? is has anyone bought one of these and do you happen to know the part number (This is for the mesh grille that fills the bottom hole between the fogs.

TIA

Giles

They don't :(

I agree

the facelift front grille is a different shape 2 urs.

It is

buy a facelift front bumper

I have :P

Not only that, it is silver and of a '98 UK model so already has the holes for the light washers and should bolt straight on :) However the mesh was apparently an optional extra and I don't have it

I also have the facelift fogs and some facelift clear indicators (although 1 has arrived from America slightly chipped :ffs: )

I just want to make sure MrT sells me the right part as he is saying that it is none returnable as it is a special order. I am hoping someone on here has access to the correct part no.

Cheers

Put a pic of the front of your car on here please :)

I have - see my avatar :D

I only picked up the new front on wednesday (a 660 mile round trip but I was halfway there due to other commitments and can loose the fuel in my business mileage)

I may fit it this weekend. This will depend on the eBay seller who sold the indicators. If they want the damaged one returned I will have to wait until the replacement arrives.

It will also depend on the weather as at the moment it is hissing down and I am to old to do cosmetic fettling in the rain

But I will do before and afters. Main reason for the change is that the current nose isn't fitted right and our bonnet gap tapers

the reason i wanted to see a bigger pic of the front was because i was sure u dont have the facelift bumper... but the fact that u havent fitted it yet would explain that :P

Ive never liked the pre face lift bumper... in my eyes it makes the car look like a shark

Good choice to get the facelift

Question still remains unanswered though... What is the part no for the grille?

Anyone?

I bought the optional grille for my facelift Celica last year. It was twenty something pounds if that helps!

I just phoned Toyota, they asked for my reg number, I gave it to them - they told me it never came with one as standard but said it was an optional part, they told me the price and said it would be there on Saturday. So I went on the saturday paid my money went home and spent 10 minutes fitting it.

It isn't mesh though - it's a plastic sort of honeycomb but I guess that's what you mean?

Sorry I haven't got the part number though - don't think I ever had it?? I seem to remember paing an extra 2 pounds or so for a fitting kit

Here is the original post I did when getting the grille:

I agree with AdamGT that DIY Grilles look Crap, if and only if the person doing it is a complete muppet and they get a grill which is either to "Chavy" (I.e the weave of the mesh is to spaced out, somthing that resembles chicken wire!) or they spray it a stupid colour like red, or blue of somthing like that.

But i think, (This is what i did myself) i got a nice tight weaved grill, sprayed it black to make it less intrusive and it really does blend in nicely, you proberbly would'nt see it unless it was pointed out to you (i'll put some pics up when i can). Plus it'll add some protection to your radiator aswell, which at the end of the day, is worth it, is it not?

Plus fitting was really easy.

Sounds like the one. I was quoted £18 without fixings and probably +vat. Don't suppose you would have the reciept in amongst your cars history as that would have the part number on it?

I can't give them my reg no as mine is currently pre facelift although they have been very helpful in looking on the computer. Guess I am going to have to order it and insist on offering it up in the carpark so I can prove I have not fitted it if it is wrong.

Thanks for all the advice

Giles

I think special order items are non refundable anyway even if it doesn't fit, so you'll have to agree something with them first! I am 95% sure it will fit as far as I know they only did 2 grilles for the facelift model. The black plastic one like I got and a chrome one from the SR model - and that will fit as well but will cost a lot more

Cheers for that.. I don't mind none refundable if I change my mind, but if is because they are not sure what they are ordering then that's a different matter.

It's going to have to wait anyhow as I need to source brackets for the fogs and a new front bar. Once you start this improving game the pennys soon mount up, and it's not even my car
