Ive got my eye on a nice red 91 gti 16v ae92. Just wanted some advice on what to look out for. The dude selling it is a new mechanic ive been dealing and he bought it off his sis for %$( all.(didnt tell me how much. worth a shot :D ) Its done 86k and is in great condition. Totally bog standard inside out which i suppose is a good sign.Absolutley no boy racer mods. New tires, new timing belt, new exhaust, oil service just done and a full toyota service history. What should the asking price be roughly? Hes looking for roughly £1100 odd. Dat good? Thx for any help people.

Hi

Great car! Check the arches as mentioned before as well as the sunroof for any rust. The engine should still be good...they're built to last forever, well almost :D .You should try and haggle the price down a few hundred quid! Many good condition standard Gti's sell for under a £1000 .Check the autotrader online!

Cheers

if it's a decent car, then it's worth it. i paid above average value for my AE82 GT, but the bloke selling knew it was a right car - and it was more than £1100 btw!

but yeah, if you can, get the price down, but if the bloke selling knows he's got a straight car, i doubt he'll move much
