Clutch - Help Needed!

I was on my way to work this morning, when I went to change from 5th to 4th the clutch didn't engage. I managed to get it out of gear but it will not find any other gears. When the car is switched off it will go into all gears as normal. I selected 1st then started the car to get it to a safe spot. There were no signs previously like a long pedal or revving in high gears.

Has anyone got any ideas of what else it might be or is it usual for a clutch to go like this in a Carina.

The car is a '94 Carina E 1.6 CD

Are the hydraulics OK?

check levels and leaks.

The slave on the bell housing is more obvious. Any leaks on the master would only be visible from the passenger compartment around the pushrod above the pedal.
