Replacing The Toyota Stereo

I know this has been asked a million times in all the other forums, but I have a '52 Avensis Verso and I want to change the factory stereo. The display has thr MPG, average speed etc stuff built into it.

Can I replace the stereo with a single DIN unit and find a blanking plate for the rest of the gap in the dashboard?

Can I somehow keep the little MPG display stuff? (probably not?)

And, is the head unit in the Avensis Verso the same as any other recent (or otherwise) Toyota? If so, I can do a little searching for info about that car, because I think this is the first post in the Avensis verso thread!

Thanks for listening to that same old same old!

Sorry to ask in this topic for another subject, but being here a member from Japan, I had to ask!: is it possible to change the analogic air condicioning controls on a 240u for the digital, on the 240i?

I'm in Portugal, but these model in europe is very poor in equipment levels, and I have been buying some upgrades from Japan directly... B)

Where did you buy the spacer?

Is there a part number?

I have a Ipsum 240u and have bought a Blaupunkt Sat Nav plus 5 CD in-dash changer (2 x 1 DIN) and would like to fit them in the Double DIN space where the original CD/MD is - these spacers look ideal.

There is a company on eBay selling an adapter, but it only has the one DIN slot :( :
