First Time Driver Insurance- Corolla

My brother has just passed his test last week, and he needs a first car. Seeing as I’m inevitably going to end up looking over it and striking the deal- I’ve been looking at a 1300cc Corolla from 92/93 on a K/L plate, as starlets seem to be very thin on the ground, and hes only got 1000 to spend.

Now the problem is insurance.. hes going to go under his own name because a) my parents don’t trust him and B) it enables you to get a faster/better car earlier on in the day.

The cheapest quote hes been able to find so far- 17 years of age and TPFT with pass plus is £1800 which is too high. Is there anyone else out there with a similar car at a similar age who could recommend an insurance company?

A micra is the other option but in my opinion they are too feminine for someone his size. :blushing:

I’m an old git now at 21 and I don’t really find insurance too bad any more so essentially I’m not too aware of first time driver insurance.

Cheers!

Mark

Mate,confused.com is the way to go!!!Trust me i got fully comp on my Ae92 gti for 236.89!

as for your parents not trusting your brother there is a company i believe is called swiftcover.com and they will sort out cover for your lil bro under your parents cover and if he has a accident it wil only affect him and not your parents! And he can still build up his no claims that way too.

Hope this is of some help to you and everyone else who is battling with high insurance costs!

I'm a relatively old person these days, but live in the Greater London area so insurance is still a !Removed!. I found that DirectLine and Morethan are the cheapest - Morethan sometimes give you a years no claims as a bonus when you join, but I'm not sure what this is dependant on - give their websites a go and see what comes out. AFAIK those two companies aren't covered by Confused.com :)

My insurance recently went though roof as moved to Manchester for 6 months with work, paying £900 on my AE92 2 year no claims and 23, but cant find many that insure quite severely moded AE92 other then Flux.

Hope it goes back down to sensible number in few months, but I remember when I had my first car think it Endsligh I got good deal with for 1st two years, but think confused is good get nice range of prices, I hear Admiral is supposed to be good for 1st time drivers?

Dunno if that helped at all?
