Whats The Difference?

I was just wondering what was the difference between the jap spec 1.6 4age 20v engine and the uk spec 1.8 engine in the corolla gxi models. Apart from the obvious 1.8 & 1.6 dfference. Are the internals the same? I took a look at the gxi engine and its a silver top @ 118bhp so why is this engine so low on power compared to the ae101 levin 1.6 4age silver top @ 160bhp?

Because they never made a 1.8 4AGE 20v!

The GXI's came with a 1.8 7AFE 16v engine!

Imports like the AE101 and AE111 came with either a 16v 4AGE 20v 4AGE or supercharged 4AGZE!

Oh now i get it. I was mis-informed by this guy who boasted that his 1.8 gxi was a 4age engine, as i don't really know much about that engine i actually believed him as all i saw was the silver top, but after checking the specs online realised that the 1.8 engine was very low in power! Thats why i came on to ask you guys.
