Warranty On New Imports

hi everyone i'm new today.

thing is we had a 2month old vigo which we bought with a third party warranty. the car was written off by a bus last week. (opened the door and walked away from a head on crash).

the dilemma i've got is that i've found another vigo at a great price but there is no third party warranty on it although the dealer says (but has not yet proven) that it has a one year toyota worldwide warranty.

can you tell me if this is likely to be true? he says that toyota are obliged to give a warranty for 12 months irrespective of where in the world it came from.

i have to o.k. this deal very soon so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

finally if it's not true then where do you buy your warranties from?

thanks

keith

Unsure as to the ins and outs of the worldwide warrenty but i got a feeling the dealer is correct.

Just to be 100% you should call Toyota UK on 0845 275 5555. And they should be able to give you a yes or no.

Im 99% sure that warrenty is only available from the dealer when you buy the car. These independent warrenty companies usually dont let you take out the warrenty yourself.

But then again i dont think a warrenty is worth the paper its written on

our vigo has been imported from thailand. you have your warranty because holland is in the E.U.

also thanks leeky for your reply, i got it just too late to ring toyota today. an after thought was that i didn't make it clear that the "dealer" is not a toyota dealer. do you know of any other members who have got a hi-lux vigo?

sorry about the accidental posting earlier. i think i know what i'm doing now.
