Hiya,

I've recently brought my first yaris and have been browsing this forum regularly. I'm desperate to connect up my mp3 player and have just been to Halfords armed with the product no for a connects 2 aux adaptor....simple i thought....but nope!! They've told me that it won't work on a pre 2001 yaris...i have a 1999 CDX. Are they right or can i just ignore them and order it anyway?

Sorry, i know there are loads of posts about connect 2, but i couldn't find an answer to this!!

Mines March 2001 and it works - Im sure some other guys have it installed on their cars.

Im sure somebody will be along to let you know but if not call 'Connects 2' (numbers on their site) and ask them

Sorry, I don't know for sure, but with my previous delaing with Halfrauds I would say that they're "not as well informed about specifics as they might be" - if you know what I mean...

Personally I would call the Connects-2 people directly, ask them and order it anyway.

Good luck,

Alan

Thanks for the advice  I'll check out the website for the number and give them a call on Monday...i wasn't convinced that Halfords knew what they were talking about, so i won't be at all surprised if they were wrong - but i would enjoy going back to tell them!!!

There's no point going back to tell them - you never find the same assistant twice in any branch of Halfrauds - its a bit like the twilight zone...

If you find one that looks vaguely similar they'll just go "huh, so, what's a Konnekts-2"

Hi

I wanted to play my MP3 player through my Yaris aswell - I went to Halfords and they are quite slow but one guy seemed helpful!

I paid 49.99 for an "Aux Media Adapter", the item number is 770750 and its going in to get fitted this Saturday. One guy was ready to sell me the Connects 2 Adapter until another stopped him and told him it wouldnt work, something phono to phono or some sh**.

Anyway, they fit it for free and assured me sound quality would be fine etc... so we will see this weekend. Il come back and tell u if its ok!

By the way I found out about this aux adapter from the Connects 2 website.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I'll be very interested to hear how you get on at the weekend!! I've spoken to connects 2 and been advised that their aux adaptor will work fine in a 1999 model, so was gonna go ahead and order that. Then i've gotta pluck up the courage to install the thing!

Dont worry as it's a doddle .... do a search on here for the 'Connects 2' thread and in there you will find a guide on how to take the dash apart and how to install it, plus it answers all the questions you should have

But I assume that you have already seen it ;)

Ill definitely let u know, i cant wait for it really - my CDs are scratched to sh**. If it costs the same as the one in Halfords get them to fit it as its free. It takes a few weeks though to book in. Meanwhile watch this space...

I am so f :censor: ing annoyed. The people at Harrods are such d***s. Well i went in for the appointment to fit my adapter, said he would be an hour and then rang me saying it was the wrong one!

He gave me some sh** about how the comps said it would work, but apparently the car is too new and one of the leads is short. Now i have to wait until Monday when they ring their suppliers and it might be that they havent even got one.

Il come back and spill on Monday, im getting so frustrated dealing with them il just gonna end up shouting. Does anyone know why they are so stupid? I've never come across anything like it in my life!
