Does The 2002 Have A Security Transponder/immobilizer?

I am trying to find out if I need to purchase a transponder bypass with a remote starter that I am putting in my mother-in-laws 2002 RAV for her birthday. I couldn't find anything on the net about it for that model year. She has the 4WD model. The key looks like it may have a chip in it but since I couldn't find anything online about it, I am skepitcal. Also, we live in the US if that matters! Thanks!

Probably best posting that kind of question on RAV4World.com as there are loads more of American owners that can probably answer your question as this is really UK based forum also remote starters in the UK are illegal.
