Excuse the very basic question but I have just bought an Avensis and cannot find out what the VSC button on the dash is for, I've searched on the forums and looked in the manual but cannot find the answer could someone put me out of my misery?

Is this the same thing?

"Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) is available with traction control (TRAC) and Brake Assist (BA). VSC helps control side skids under demanding conditions by detecting and helping to correct loss of lateral traction during cornering. The VSC system integrates TRAC to help limit rear wheel spin on slippery road surfaces. The Brake Assist system can help the driver take full advantage of the ABS in emergency situations. Brake Assist is designed to determine if the driver is attempting emergency braking and, if the driver has not stepped firmly enough on the brake pedal to activate the ABS, it applies maximum braking pressure until pedal pressure is released."

So...

The button is to turn it off - which you may want to do if you're attempting to do a Jeramey Clarkson and power slide (difficult with a front wheel drive car) - or need to skid a little - some snowy conditions its better to have it off...

however, normally, I'd leave it on

My T3-x didn't have this as standard :( (came in on the next reg release)
