The flagship 3MPS will have a six-speed gearbox and be capable of nearly 150mph. The 0-60mph time is likely to set a new class standard at a little over six seconds.

 Thats gonna be rapid! and for £16k

i like it!

turbo, 2.3, 6 speed box, big alloys and bodywork! 250bhp!

and mazda do make some spot on cars, the RX range is pure s*x, and they also have the Mazda 6 MPS which is supposed to shift!

Big up to mazda if you ask me, yet another manufacturer whos owning toyota in performance car stakes!

i have always liked the 3 but until now a sporty model never existed (nor a 3dr but that wont change). u also get outstanding value, compare this to the alfa 147gta which is over £20k for example.

2.3 Litre, 240 BHP, would not like to be paying for the insurance on that, like the look of it though

Looks ace! My mums got a Mazda 3 and they are, imo, really good cars and my mums car grips the road really, really well!:thumbsup:

I'll try and persuade her to part-ex it in for a MPS!

Had mazda 626s in the past as company cars - the second of which was a 198bhp sport. They are really really well built - I did 114k in the first and 121k in the second.

Give it a year until they've sorted out the niggles then get yourself a fantastic 1 yr old!

Just to add to this thread, the Mazda 3 is more Focus/Golf/Corolla size and shouldn't really be compared to the Yaris but that's another story!

I still don't know why we're comparing cars that shouldn't be compared!

Mazda are on to a winner there i think. Toyota need to rethink about there performance models as they are going to be left behind on the performance side of motoring

The new yaris is larger though so is more of a viable comparison! Also they in same price bracket i thinks the point. (well expected to be) So you gettin a decent size car with more power than the smaller, uglier, slower Tsport.

Couldnt have put it better myself Jerry....

The question is - why are other manufacturers prepared to release sporty versions of popular small hatchbacks and Toyota arent?

I think the idea of a 1.8 T-Sport Yaris is nice.... but lets face it, the possibility of it actually happening is slim to none.... and if it does I think the majority of us will have gone elsewhere for our kicks by then!

I like it, if it actually comes outa as a 2.3turb and gets released here in that derative remains to be seen.

thats in a different league to a t sport, in terms of performance, hot hatch etc

i'm comparing the price for whats avaliable atm, the new yaris t-sport is rumoured to be in the 15-16K range, we all know that the new models are pricey, so looking at a hothatch comparison there will not be anything faster/powerful for the price of 3MPS. :)

Sure have and I agree, it's ugly!

As earpl said there is NO confirmed new Yaris T-Sport. I can't imagine them not bringing one out, but as i've said before I imagine it will have a 1.5l engine like the rest of the world, not the 1.8 that is on a concept

Word of warning for the BASS heads here, I you want to kit out with ICE then DO NOT go for Mazda 3 or 6. Audio system is a combined modular console. Which you can not do anything with. Fascia surrounds etc. aren't available. The Audio system has no RCA's either. So unless you fancy converting speaker wires to RCA it's not much fun.

Although, you could upgrade to the BOSE Modular Console which has RCA's. but the cost is into the 000's.

Otherwise great car's shame they snookered us on audio.
