Not A Happy Bunny

Not been on here for some time.... i see the site has had a face lift.

Anyway, I took my yaris TS in for a service today and i've come back not to chuffed. Firstly they didn't ask how its been or have i had any problems to report. Secondly they dam well charged me £3 for screen wash even though it was full because I never use it. Thirdly, the invoice says free wash, leather and vacume, which it never had! And lastly and the biggest pain of all is that the car doesn't feel 'serviced'. It should feel firmer, less clicks on the handbrake etc. Nothing.

Why do they charge for more screen wash and why doesn;t me car feel like new again? By the way my car is an 05 plate so this is its first service.

Not happy with chelmsford toyota one bit.

Any similar problems anyone?

Generally speaking, they will do anything on their service list unless you tell them otherwise, I asked for no screen wash so they didnt do that, I found that out on here, otherwise like you, I would have.

I guess if you had any major issues with the car, you would have already told them by now.... probably why they didnt ask.

I'd bring it up about the wash and vacuum though - if it wasnt done and you paid for it, you should call them and complain.. but my car didnt feel serviced either - everything felt the same, but then thats what I expected for as first service on a year old car!

You could always write them a sternly worded letter of complaint.... at least get your free wash and vac and then use another Toyota centre next time!

Why should it feel any different? Nothing will have majorly worn and so nothing is really replaced! Yeah the handbrake could have been tightened etc but it isn't vital really. They may have checked it and it didnt need tightening? Im not sure that they did that bad a job or if you had too high expectations. But yeah that charging for vac and clean is wrong if it aint been done! Thats something i would deffo complain about!

It sounds that you was expecting certain things from a service - but first it isn't down to the mechanics at Mr T it's the sales/whoever person you spoke to.

He/she should of told you about the service and what it would have involved. He/she should have answered any questions that you had, plus have gone through the bill with you telling you all the charges. He/she should have also checked with you that you was happy with the car once you had collected it.

Basically all they do at a service is check over the car/fluid levels etc. If anything sticks out like a sore thumb they will let you know but they wont touch it or make any adjustments if nothing needs doing.

Also just to point out - you should be getting a phone call and a questionnaire to let them know how they done

When they call you let them know how you feel and they should be able to answer/sort out all of your questions for you

Yes, it shouldn't really "feel" any different. If it did on a first service, I think I'd worry about it.

As for the wash, it was free so not included in the service cost but you should still mention that your car didn't get it. To be fair, mistakes happen. If you tell them about them and they don't sort it out for you, then is the time to start complaining more strongly, IMHO.

Does your car feel like an old one in the first place?

If not I dont know what your complaining about, and the handbrake will not be touched unless you request it to be changed or that the brakes are being stripped and cleaned up, which is done every 20k on a Toyota.

All they would have done was new oil filter and fresh oil, and the screenwash which you pointed out, followed by a check over of the car.

If you had any issues about the car, they have to be raised at the point of booking the car in, or when handing the keys over.

If next time you send your car to a Toyota dealer, just ask what the next service entails, get them to give a full description and if you think something else needs checking then raise the issue and they should look into it for you.

Mr T are useless

MrT at bolton arent useless, in fact they provided excellent service, did everything they said they would, were very professional and customer satisfaction oriented, and Iv'e been very happy every time iv'e used them(even if they were expensive compared to a backstreet garage).

The Toyota dealer in Slough was great - they gave us a nice Toyota car cleaning kit with one service (a case containing shampoo, polish, screen wash and a sponge) :D

We haven't had any goodies like that from the ones around here though..

Oh yeah, and there's more......

1) they didn't phone me to say it was ready - i saw that the time was 5.20 and rushed back to collect the car before they shut.

2)I have told them twice to update their records because i have a personal number plate now. They still didn't do it.

You could always write them a sternly worded letter of complaint.... at least get your free wash and vac and then use another Toyota centre next time!

I'm running out of toyota's to use in my area!

I didn't want it washing deep down anyway but the point is they claim to have done it when they havn't.

And yeah my expectations are high. My cars in the past have felt different. Mainly the steering, gear shift and hand brake. Maybe its because its just a minor service then.

And they didn't communicate to me much at all. Just blagged about the VSR, then wanted my money.

Rant over.

So, you make sure you get in touch with Toyota UK and tell them about it. Can't guarantee how effective this will be but they do listen to complaints at least.

And as mentioned, make sure you give them grief in the questionnaire you'll get from them.

MY car definatly felt alot smoother and tighter after having a service but im on 30k odd so would imagine its getting worn in whereas yours is new i would imagine is still being worn in so theres less of a difference!

Using Rayleigh tomorrow for a service, am worried now :o

No windscreen washer needs doing, getting a brake check done and need handbrake adjusting..

Hope nothing else will be of a problem as it's only just done over 10,000 miles and all engine levels and maintenance is done regularly anyway.

If your screenwash was full... why did you pay it??

That bill, along with every single bill you receive from every single licensed outlet/service centre/store/market etc etc is negotiable. It forms part of a contract that both sides must agree to... if you disagree with something on it, then you are entitled to argue your case... like in a restaurant where they put a service charge on... they legally aren't allowed to make you pay that, you can scrub that and just pay what you owe.

Same here, just say (politley, as it always works 900% better than being an *****) that your screenwash was full and that you don't think you need it... 95% of the time they'll just knock it off (they did for my 1st, 2nd and 3rd services!)

Also, 1st service is nothing... you can do it yourself in an hour (except that you need a stamp and proof for the re-sale values of your car!) all it is is a visual check of brakes, suspension, steering etc, an oil & filter change, a check of all major controls and a quick clean of the air filter. That's it! 2nd service is much more and 3rd service is same as 1st except that bits are tightened (like handbrake) and joints and hinges are greased.

They should have definatley washed it for you though and let you know it was done... for that they are indeed crap, but until you receive really bad service (Like the tarts at Benfield in Leeds have given many people!) then your MrT is ok!

Best thing is to not get wound up... anybody who has worked in customer relations will know that if somebody is being nice and being reasonable when they have a problem, then 99% of the time, they'll get what they want with no fuss at all. Be a noob head and you'll get nothing except wee wee in your screenwash!

Don't think I'll ever take mine to Mr T, unless the price is right.

All my local ones are horrendous for service charges, and their customer service is krud.

Inchcape managed to give me mats for a 5 door when i got some with the car, even thought mines a 3 door, and when I enquired about 3 door mats, they said you've got two choices: good quality, or cheapy ones. Looks like you've got cheapy ones mate....

20k service compiled of oil and filter change, and visuals & checking of everything else - mine needed the handbrake tightening a bit, and that was it!

Servicing prices in England are a joke though - some places can charge upto £100 an hour, just for labour!!!
