Altho i do not own a Yaris i have had PI springs before and am having them fitted Friday to my Avensis, for what you pay and what there designed to do i think there ok, also depends on what you mean by experience road handling, car ride, etc

i think a few on here have, if we are talking pure spring replacement and leaving shocks then tein are supposed to be the best in terms of ride quality, 35mm front 38 rear so evens the look out slightly as well

i personally have gmax, which are ok, but they are weak in terms off when u have heavy weight or no weight in back the rear end drops and rises a fair amount, tein stay relitively the same from what i have heard

i do have Pi springs on my yaris, bought them for a reasonable price, lowers the ride by 40mm, handling hmmmm i guess it is ok, it is a lil bumpier but thats expected, but i guess u do feel safer when cornering, say if u were doing a sudden corner etc, but i also have a front strut fitted, and maybe its the combination but cornering is a pleasure.

i'm sure someone on here had their springs sag a bit.

tein and Eibach are the best, for about £50 extra

i had PIs when i dropped mine 60mm as theyre the only ones that did them that low :D

theyre not the best, but then the koni shocks kept it all stiff, and my car was more of a looker than a go'er anyway

I've got Apex ones, but they'll be going soon when I order my Coilovers. Can't really complain about them, they've been fine, except rear doesn't lower as much as I would have liked

at the end of the day a springs a spring, you cant really judge them between each other, theyre all made of the same stuff, wether its got PI Eibach etc etc printed on them

just the coil winds that really determine anything

what because of the name :P

theres only one major type of spring steel in the world (5160), so the composition can hardly differ

i had to do an assignment on material properties of spring steel :ffs: :!Removed!: the properties, hardening and formation of spring steel is a very close tolerance affair and no two companys can say , ive made better than you, at the end of the day, all you can justify and alter is the diameter of the material and then the coil wind as i said before, so your apex springs are made of the same stuff as PI wether you like it or not :D

yeah it was boring

Does the diameter and winding quality differ between brands?

Also I saw something about Jamex springs using a different method - they claim:

JAMEX springs are forged using the more reliable 'cold-drawn' method. Some competitors use the hot-forged method of manufacture, this has an adverse effect on the springs' tensile strength: i.e. consistent tension.

If they're that good, how come they're so cheap?

Sorry for the questions, just curious!

you cant hot forge it anyway, that way the material will relax and loose its, elastic or 'springy' properties

drawing requires forcing it through a dye apperture at a temperature below the yeild point of crystalisation, hot forging is the method of making crank shafts, spanners etc, when you sit a red hot lump of petal in a die and then press it into shape with the other half of the dye. Or in similar terms with a drop forge. Hot forging is done above the critical point of crystalisation so you can physically modify the grain flow of the material to what you require, but it causes a uniform structure in most cases which makes strong hard steel, not spring steel

PI springs are crap don't waste your money, my mate had them on his ford puma and his ride is really crashy + all the red plastic coating on the springs is all cracked within less than a year.

if u want quality stick to quality brands like H&R, Eibach
