Oh... one more thing... vehicles ARE the most dangerous thing on earth as they have killed more people, wildlife and plantlife than any other device in human history. So the statistics say anyway!

Except for humans, of course.... ;)

omfg is this still going?

A. Not me driving. But that isnt the point...

B. Gf thought it was broke, no she hasnt read the instructions since she got the car 3 years ago, but she HAS been driving for 8 years without incident (touch wood).

C. Have GPS to monitor speed anyway so was never in danger of speeding!

THREE YEARS?!?!?! My god. No excuses will suffice! Women! :!Removed!: :o

Iv no problem with a danger of speeding... its the danger to other motorists of somebody who doesn't know their car, so can't surely be capable of driving it properly!

Anyway, enough said... everybody will always agree to disagree on this topic!

Yeah, not realising you can switch between kph and mph is the same as being incapable of driving properly.

Are you having a :censor: laugh?

Ok, I think its about time we chilled out on this!

There are far worse drivers in the world than those who have difficulty switching from mph to kph! Its a mistake - they happen, we learn from them, we get over it!

Correct, it isn't the same... but it's the principle of not knowing how your car works, so if you're using something that you don't know about and get almost worried about it whilst driving then you can't be as safer driver as you should be.

It's like if you worked anywhere with specialist equipment... if you didn't know exactley how to use it (eg. FLT, JCB etc) then you wouldn't be allowed or insure to use it by the company you work for. Only when you know the equipment are you deemed safe to operate it. Much goes for all these 'soccer mums' in the 4x4's... we all know the types... double parking at schools, wrecking alloys on kurbs etc, well, should they, or any person for that matter really be allowed to drive such a huge machine? It's obvious that a lot of them have no idea what they're doing (go past a private school anywhere and you'll see loads of 4x4's and a heck of a lot of them have scrapes, dents, knackered alloys) it's this danger of not knowing the vehicle you are driving which is worrying. Surely everyone can agree with this??

  • 7 months later...

Hello all!

One of the main reasons I joined this forum was to find out about the speedometer you folks get on the Yaris hatchback. In the US it is marketed as an economy car and the gauge cluster is... well... uninspiring. We don't even get a tachometer - manual transmission or not.

Many of us are upgrading our cars and a better looking speedometer is something many would like.

I understand that yours is digital and is switchable between km. and miles (to some member's consternation  ). That would be great because many of us travel into Canada where they use the metric system.

I haven't been able to find a photo of your speedometer anywhere. Would one of you be so kind as to post a photograph of the cluster from the new model Yaris?

Also, are there any shops that you know of that sell Toyota parts intended for the British market overseas? (I have had great luck with japanparts.com for JDM parts.)

Thanks for any help.
