Water In Boot

Hi,

Just discovered water under my spare wheel in my Gen7 Celica, and it seems to be overflowing from a space below the jack in the side of the boot. Closer inspection revealed that the end of a clear plastic pipe (sunroof drain?) is just hanging in that space by the side of the jack, whereas on the other side of the boot it goes into a bung with a sleeve on it (presumably to drain to the outside).

The side with the car jack is just plugged with a solid rubber bung, with nowhere for the pipe to be inserted - does anyone know what's going on? is the pipe end on this side supposed to be fitted somewhere?

Thanks in anticipation for your help!

Can't really help too much chap but thought I'd move your post up before it gets lost in oblivion! Can you not just take this rubber bung off and then feed the tube into where the water should drain out. I'd imagine it would be the same setup as the other side and maybe someone's fiddled and not put it all together properly.

Does your rear washer jet work ok? Just wondering if you have a leak / split in the pipe (or as you suggest, it just isn't connected).... Although having said that, I have a feeling that pipe runs down the other side of the car....

Thanks for the responses, both.

Rear washer/wipe is ok. Yep, guess I will just take out the bung and get the one with the hole and sleeve/collar that grips the pipe, as in the other side. My surprise is that it seems that it's been this way from new.
