Engine Chips

hi guys just been lookin on e-bay wat are your thoughts on engine chips do they really make a differance which ones are the best and how much... cars a n/a 2l t-bar mk2 rev1

If you are talking about the £5 ones .. don't bother.

It's a 5p resistor in a box.

NA's are hard to tune with just a "chip" ..

Superchip do one that'll add a few bhp - about 15 min install.

Unichip do one that needs to be mapped, adds about 10/15 bhp. Few hours dyno time needed.

Apexi do fuel computers that'll help you get about 10 bhp out of your engine.

Only *real* was is to use nutty cams and high compressing pistons and strengthen the engine to run higher RPM.

The S2000 has forged pistons, conrods, crank etc, wild cams, slipper pistons, VERY high compressing on makes 250ps from 1997cc's .. so it is do-able. But that's still only 160 lb/ft of torque, but at 9k rpm.

If you are after power, sell the NA, buy a turbo.
