I've Just Test Drove A New Yaris

Didn't like it one bit. I'm new to the club and just thought I would share my opinion on this topic which seems to have been discussed in detail before. I had a few hours to kill this afternoon so thought I would pop down to Mr T and check it out. Seems to be way overpriced compared to the previous model, cheap interior plastics everywhere, the 1.3 engine is less powerful/economical/torque/Co2 emissions than the one in my Blue and it seems to be louder and overall not impressed one bit. The model I drove was a 1.3 T spirit with sports pack and OTR price of..... wait for it..... a whopping £13,295! Don't know whether anyone agrees but couldn't you get a phase 2 T sport cheaper than this new?!?

So i'm gonna stick with my good ole Yaris Blue and start on a few mods instead.

Welcome to the club dude

I agree - it's a shame about the new yaris, I would have liked to stick with the car/make/brand as it's a quality little motor with a good rep. The MKI P1 and P2 was more expensive that other similar cars back in the day, but the new one is way too much.

Unless Mr T pulls a miracle and does release a DECENT TS I'm afraid I will be going elsewhere

The new Yaris is a cracking little car in many respects - I've driven both the 1.0 and 1.3 petrol versions (T3 & T-Spirit respectively)

But in all fairness, the car has grown up, its not the funky little supermini it once was, theres nothing wrong with that in many respects, but if your looking for something like the above.... then yes you will be disappointed.

Perfectly good and able little car - I didnt think the 1.3 was as bad as you thought - although it was a tad noisy on the motorway, it was a very apt little car, but its just aimed at a difference audience now thats its a grown up car.... thats all

I'm doing the same too, starting off with a TTE Spoiler hopefully with next months work bonus & headlight brows

Haven't had a chance to test drive one yet, not bothered about it actually as I'm still not a huge lover of it. It's better in real life than in photo's but I'd stick with the P1/P2 anyday

Your right DaveSR, it is a shame about the new Yaris but when the first one was as successful as it was, it's pretty hard to reinvent it and make it better. I was very dissapointed as thought it would be good. Lets hope they do bring a T sport out, price it resonably and it's a big improvement of the current spec Yaris but might be wishful thinking!

I can't stand it... too big, too heavy... too damned expensive!

They've taken a step backwards... ok it's a bit bigger, but still no-way near as big as it's rivals (Jazz, Clio, Punto) plus it's heavier which means it's slower, thirstier, more harmful to the environment, it comes with no extra kit (except 9 airbags... but that's stupid... they'll just burn your skin off) and the price makes me cringe.

The outside is ugly... a lardy bug eyed beast (bit like me!!) and it just looks wrong.

The interior was better, or so I thought.... It feels very cheap. Hard plastics, uncomfortable and difficult to operate switches and dials, the doors feel very flimsy and the stereo is about 3 miles away from the driver.

It's a poor effort and really is a step backwards... and I'll never be able to get over that price. The original Yaris' were over priced, but nothing like this! This is insane! You can get a Mazda 6 for £13,800 now and that's a usefull bigger, it's more powerful, the same economy etc etc... it's crazy!
