Can anybody explain a little more to me the benefit in becoming a gold member as I can't see that you get a lot for your £25 quid

you mean apart from the vast array of motoring and non-motoring discounts, which can save you your membership fee on a servicing discount alone?

not to mention insurance, breakdown cover etc?

In summary:

Access to a different forum which is basically unmoderated

Access to car and non car related discounts (including a large number of Toyota dealers)

'Gold' status in the public forum

Fancy stickers for your car and a posh membership card

Authority to advertise items / cars for sale in the public forum

Other suff as well which doesn't spring to mind and of course the feeling that you are supporting the club.

I spend a fair bit of time on here so I do it as a bit of support and also for the forum access, okay so neither me or Yves really use the Discounts apart from Halfrauds vouchers when the need arises to get something from there but it's still a reduction

I must have saved around 70 odd quid in discounts this year alone, no doubt if i was in the uk permanently I would have saved a lot more

But can save money at selected toyota dealers aswell and also can save on other car parts and also non car related discounts so you can easily get your £25 back! Like was said if you don't want to don't get it. Everyone on here who's a member i would say doesnt regret it but if you think £25 too steep dont bother. (which tbh it really isn't for a years membership!)

Gold isnt just about paying £25, its also about supporting the club, this forum doesnt run for free and Steve, Ken, Matt and the guys put in a lot of hard graft to get this site good, £25 is really nothing, plus you do get a lot of things that non-Gold members do not get.

But the best part is to know that you are helping to support this club, I'd still do that with or without discounts and our own forum, because TOC is more of a mini-society than a forum....

Works out at about £2.08 a month - bargainous!

Not sure on how much I have actually saved ..... but I've brought some tyres :D !

Even if I didn't get my money back through gold I wouldn't be bothered as just talking to people on here and taking their advice has saved me loads

Anything I want to know about my yaris is 'on tap' here ..... and I know that I wont get fobbed off with excuses from Mr T

I've not used the discounts in the time I've been a member but it's nice to have a place to chat more informally <he means he can swear :P > but to be honest, for me it's the warm fuzzy glow of knowing I'm supporting TOC.

I don't look at it as what I can get out of it, more as a way of saying "Thanks" for all the advice I've received on the general site.

as someone said above - no ones forcing you to - i dont use any of the discounts (already have them through LOC for the last 3 years) but i renewed TOC gold for a second year...

its about supporting the club, the discounts are a sweetener, but if you dont want to help out and actually save a lot of money in return, dont..
