Unstable T-sport

I have had this problem from the very firsh week that i got my T-sport. The back of the car gets very light under heavy braking. Typical example would be a normal 60mph bend and you brake coming into it and the back of the car lifts up and causes serious understeer. The stability light dosent come on or beep.

Has this happined to anyone else? or does anyone else have any handeling problems. The Dealer reckons the car is ok, but i dont think they spent the propper amount of time looking into it.

Im unhappy to say the least, this along with a broken drivers seat , rattles in the dash , passangers seat and passangers door has all happined in under 1000mls.

Which TSport are you refering to?

Mostly likely a Corolla or Celica, as the Yaris does not have a stability system.

In that case I can't comment as I have the Yaris.

Hi Robbie,

same as shola, which T Sport have you got,, I have a T Sport Corolla, and have not experienced the handling problems you describe, after read you post at lunch time today I decided to try and replicate your problem, driving on a road a know well, and prehaps even exceding the speed limit a little, I hit the brakes big time just before a very sharp bend, but had no problems at all, the car cornered perfectly.

I have fitted 17x7 wheels with lower than profile tryers, this may help a little.

What can I say it was fun trying ;)

HI Jake.

Its a Corolla T-sport. see my pic at the side. I tried the car on 17" TWS with 240 profile tyres it handled gud but its still not right. Im gonna lower and stiffen the ride of the car and will report on how that changes it

Quick suggestion, if you've had problems with the car since new, it maybe an idea to get the problems sorted by the garage you got the car from before you make any suspenion changes etc as once thats done the garage can say that the fault is down to the modifications ratherthan the car itself...

Hi Robbie,

tried again today to replicate the problem but only had fun trying, I also looking at lowering mine by 30mm, but nore for looks than ride. Have also been looking at the short throw gear shifter, might add to the driving experience ????

  • 4 weeks later...

I have experienced a smilar problem with the yaris stability, mainly coming to the bottom of sliproads & braking heavily.

This could be something to do with the EBD (Electronic brake distribution)?
